Courses Offered by the Continuing Education Department

The Continuing Education Department of Birzeit University offers a wide range of courses for both the private and public sectors of Palestinian society, as well as the general public. Courses have been designed on the basis of needs assessments within the Palestinian community and in consultation with experts in each of the specified areas and cover the following seven fields:

• Computer Studies
• Language Proficiency
• Humanities
• Technical Training
• General Management
• Financial Management
• Marketing
• Project Management
• Human Resource Management

CED also offers tailor made courses which fall outside of the above mentioned fields, according to the needs of the community. The size of all training courses is kept small, never exceeding 20 participants at a time, in order to offer the most effective environment for learning for trainees and more one-on-one training.

Although there is no specific timetable for courses offered at CED, a number of courses have been offered on a regular basis. The remainder of courses are offered upon request of specific organizations, demand within the community and according to funding capabilities. However efforts are currently underway to design a course catalogue in which a regular number of courses will be offered by the department on an annual basis, and a timetable will be made available.

Diploma programs are a new trend at CED towards developing professional proficiency in a number of diverse fields. The process of diploma development has been aided through the co-operation of both local and international organizations and consultants and several programs are nearing completion.

All participants receive a certificate awarded by Birzeit University after successfully completing a CED program.
