1)  JUDAISM IS A PURE NATIONALISM, AND NOT A MERE RELIGION:

According to some historical novels recorded in a few religious books, and during the exit journey of the Hebrew tribes from Egypt to Eastern Jordan, and then to Palestine via the Sinai peninsula which occurred around 3500 years ago, prophet Moses headed for Mount Sinai to present himself in the hands of God for 40 days, before being ordered by the Almighty God to deliver his commandments of orders and instructions to his people, lost in the desert. The Torah text adds that God wrote these commandments, known as the “10 Commandments”, in the old Hebrew language, on two boards of stone. And despite the fact that the Hebrew people repudiated the faith in God and returned to worship calf, which embarrassed and troubled Moses before he broke the stone boards, then turned back once again to the mountain with yet another two new boards for God to write on them once again his Ten Commandments.

At any rate of the authenticity of that mentioned novel, the commandments provide a concrete embodying of the ethical laws which the Jews consider as divine holy instructions having the power to define their own faith and conduct, as well as their ideological system, both in heaven and on earth. It would be wise to mention that most of these commandments had been stated through different wordings in the holy tenets adhered by the believers of great religions like Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianism and Islam. The difference between the Ten Commandments and the structural rules upon which the other religions were initiated (incitements against some of these religions, harsh warning against the others) are represented in the special covenant, or in the distinguished charter, which the followers of these 10 Commandments - - the Jews, according to the modern concept - - considers that they were given to them out of all peoples, while the believers of other religions find in these tenets some pure divine instructions overwhelming all human beings, and that there is no merit favoring one man over the other except his deep adherence and pure loyalty to them, which means that the Jews have tinted the 10 Commandments with their very own appropriated, narrow and selfish color, while the other religions have been theologically, intellectually and practically receptive to the whole world, including all its nations, civilizations and beliefs, both on earth and in heaven.

The bottom line in these 10 Commandments is that they were not practically implemented by the Hebrew people, as the Jews only used them in order to differentiate and identify themselves from all the other nations of the universe, thus leaving them as mere inscriptions on a stone, resembling to the “Ink on Paper”, if to believe the modern expression of our current era. The Hebrew people renounced these commandments after a few days, or even a few hours following their revelation upon them, and replaced them with a calf made of gold, which could be the very same gold Hebrew people had stolen from the Egyptians before their escape, as stated in Torah. As if it was that love for gold which tainted the Jews throughout the consecutive centuries had found its basis since that time in Sinai, when they were facing their worst hopeless situation: Some expulsed tribes hunted be the Pharaohs curse, and failing to find a refuge able to accept them.

This is the fate of the divine commandments. But the case differs by nature and magnitude from yet another 10 Commandments, created after nearly 35 centuries by a bunch of Jews in the shape of a political movement program, called the Zionism. This program was followed by a comprehensive mechanism initiated for full and detailed implementation in later stages. But while the Hebrew people of Moses rejected the commandments of God, the Zionists of our modern time (precisely the last century) have complied to the commandments of their own leaders, the latters known as the “Fathers of the Zionist Movement”, and succeeded in forcing the Zionist movement itself, including its leaders, members, procedures, engagements and practices, in a literal and firm coercion, undismanteled by time and impossible to pass unnoticed under any prevailing circumstances.

But then, what exactly are these political Zionist commandments, created and formulated a century back, which claim the full inspiration of the religious commandments, and for which the Zionists have recently celebrated the 49th anniversary of achieving one of their prime targets during the continuous phases of the movement’s establishment and evolution , the time for “Israel” to present itself as the greatest expression of the Zionist loyalty and deep adherence to the mentioned commandments?

We will try, in this study, to review and identify these commandments, forewarning at the same time about the necessity of the full separation between them and God’s 10 Commandments which the Torah relate the relevant story involving them from one side, and Moses and the Hebrew people from the other side. We have used the old traditional religious term referring to the modern political program in a symbolic way, without seeking a specific and particular linkage between the old heavenly tenets and the modern programs initiated materially by human beings.

Europe has been characterized in the 19th century through a string of general aspects, interlaced in some cases, conjuncted of paralleled in the remaining others.
Firstly, the 19th century was also the century where nationalism witnessed a phenomenal resurrection, intellectually, theoretically and at the political associations level. It was also the era that witnessed the definition of many aspects in different regions of the world, which were, in their turn, previously incorporated with neighboring regions, or even dissolved within their overwhelming elements, through some nationalistic principles emanated from historical, ethnic, linguistic, cultural roots, or even circumstantial interests. The rising of this resurrection resulted a various nationalistic revolutions and drastic wars, which led to the creation of great nations (Germany and Italy, to say the least).

This very same eruption of nationalism was coupled by a “shrinking sentiment”, which not only differentiate between a host of countries/nations, but also viewed with anxiety and perturbation the presence of ethnic, nationalistic, religious or sectarian minorities, established at the center of every state/nation. These deep and serious concerns led in most cases to the ultimate scenes of persecution, oppression and injustice. This is why the nationalistic sentiments - - the isolationist ones against the opposition sides and the unionist ones towards the common segments of the closest sides - - have found deep roots in the pure elements of the persecuted minorities which retaliated against their opponents with the very same negative approach. The nationalistic faith and sentiments thrived deep in the bulk of these minorities, as they were justified and accepted in many cases, and even supported by the historical logic, while being also confusedly proceeded with a substantial lack of argument and evidence, creating a mere negative reaction against the nationalistic oppression they have endured.

Secondly, the 19th century presented the world with the industrial renaissance which overwhelmed wide parts of the European continent, and eventually guided the nations of this part of the world to a leading position of thrilling and amazing achievements in civilization terms, enabling the sciences, culture and arts to reach an unprecedented boom, and the new inventions and discoveries to thrive for a long period of time. The various institutes, financial companies and treasuries remarkably grew, as well as the political institutions who flourished at a very surprising pace, to the outstanding benefit of that century’s lucky generation who discovered and enjoyed the authentic prosperity at all levels, and precisely in the scientific, educational, economic and construction fields, never been relished in the previous century.

However, there has been a deprived list of minorities and social classes, in Europe, who extremely suffered from the manipulation of the national capital, thus never being able to enjoy the common profits, leaving them in desperate financial situation, unlike the national bourgeoisie who claimed all the benefits of that century and made a brilliant progress in all related domains.

Along with the great industrial renaissance, came the inevitable growth of European colonialism over widespread sectors in both the Asian and African continents, leading to the ultimate expansion of different empires (some of them have been created a few centuries before) to regions never reached in the past, evoking the colonization of additional territories in order to secure the safety of military and trade transportation roads, and link the empire’s various arteries for the sole benefit of the mother nation. The search of these new regions and territories turned into an incisive and sharp rivalry between the colonialist powers, thus pushing them to get involved in mutual and collective wars.

This very same challenge over foreign territories forced the incoming powers to seek the friendship and reliance of some people of these new regions, enabling them to gain considerable and hopeful support in their conflicts against their colonialist rivals. Great Britain, in this regard, emerged as the most successful side involved in this international game, following its outstanding campaign to control widespread parts of new territories, thus succeeding to lure the loyalty and services of local communities, better than any of their other European counterparts.

The religious perception took advantage of the colonialist rivalries and the sudden rise of huge empires and nationalistic countries, and sought to explore new spots to be filled within the ruling classes and in the thriving social institutions, finally succeeding in guiding some of the politicians, economists, financiers and intellectuals through a particular path suiting its own narrow understanding of religious affairs, and the expansion aspirations of the prevailing local forces in its home country. In this context, the Anglican church (including all its various branches and sects) proved to be the main pressure group over the ruling forces/elites (particularly in Great Britain), excelling also in improving the British colonialism in many Arabian territories of the Ottoman empire, and bringing into being the different pretexts and arguments, as well as geographic and human groundworks.

It was in this European global atmosphere that the Zionist principles were created and fully completed thereafter in an organized movement and an active institution in the spring of 1897.

The Jewish communities of Europe were divided during the past century into 2 categories, in general: Most of East European Jews (and the Eastern parts of Central Europe) lived in isolated ghettos under poor conditions, oppressed and hated by their entourage, and deprived from the citizenship benefits enjoyed by their neighbors. However, the West European Jews (and those living in the Northern and Western parts of Central Europe) were able to merge themselves, in one way or another, within the local societies where they established their presence, even claiming notable success and benefits on the political, social and financial levels, in pure emulation of the majority of their countrymen (Christian individuals, of course).

The main guidelines of the Zionist intellectual background could be revealed should we exclude the 4 elements previously mentioned regarding the European situation during the past century, on the eve of the establishment of the Zionist movement and during its early days: The Jews of Eastern Europe have suffered from the persecution to the same extent of wealthy comfort enjoyed by their brothers in religion living in Western Europe, during the empires heydays. These same Jews of Western Europe were also involved actively in building the foundations of the different empires, also in providing funds for future prosperity to the same extent of East European Jews who found themselves as the fuel of the industrial renaissance and its own victim. And while Queen Victoria, the guardian of Christian faith, welcomed Jews personalities in the shape of Benjamin Dizraeli as Prime Minister of its kingdom, as well as Monteviore and Rothschild as main stalwarts of its velvet society, the Orthodox and Catholic clergymen in Eastern Europe have provoked the enticement of their subjects against the “Murderers of Jessus”.
Hence, both these contradictory portions of Jews have found in the nationalistic resurrection and the widespread of ideologies which sought the definition on nations shapes and adopted the interests and entities on nationalistic basis, either on ethnic or quasi-ethnic terms, and either on confessional or quasi-confessional terms, a suitable climate to deal with the Jewish issue, the pure religious one, as a nationalistic and therefore a political concern.

The original seeds of political probe began to grow in the Jewish circles at the initial dawn of the Zionist missionary calls in the 19th century, and precisely through the associations spread in East European Jewish neighborhoods under the main title of “The Association of Zion’s Lovers”, presenting themselves until the turn of last century as charitable associations (termed as humanitarian associations in our current era), and seeking to raise financial funds from the European wealthy Jews for reasons related to help the Russian and Polish oppressed Jews in their crucial quest to emigrate outside their home countries, to Palestine in the first place.

The “Zion’s Lovers” association controlled more than 250 branches worldwide, with one of their most prominent figures and leaders, Pinsker, who died just a few years before Bazel congress being held. The association was extremely active in Russia particularly, following the official announcement of discriminatory laws against the Jews which were the main reason behind the sudden encouraging of Jewish emigration waves in the 80’s of last century, then came the association’s branches in Poland and Romania, respectively.

Saying this, the “Zion’s Lovers” association resembled to a rather charitable brotherhood believing in the salvation paths of persecuted individuals in Eastern Europe, by means of financial grants, donated by wealthy individuals Jews (assimilated or non-assimilated within their societies in Western Europe), which precisely means that this initial phase of the Zionist thinking birth devoted its full attention and efforts only in providing the money in order to rescue (or liberate) the vanquished Jews. Therefore, this association failed to reach the intellectual or political maturity which enable it to turn the charitable activity into an ambitious political program, good enough to be revealed at the international scene and able to unite all the Jews of the world, and possessing its own ideology and institutions.

Theodor Herzl, a Jewish attorney and journalist of Hungarian origin and Austrian residency (both Austria and Hungary constituted a confederation at that time), was one of the leading personalities who succeeded in turning the charitable/humanitarian activities into an international political ideological work. And in order to achieve this definitive goal, he made genuine efforts to convert the Judaism from the religion status to the nation case. As he mentioned in one of his speeches, “The Jews are a people, and not a mere community faction…Judaism is also a national identity, not just a mere religious sect… The Jews, all the Jews, wherever they might be, and to any citizenship or country or class or culture they might belong, have to work together as a single people, for the benefit of a single cause”.

Herzl presented this theory which suited some of the Jews, to the oppressed Jewish individual who found in it a strong shield providing him the ultimate protection from continuous persecution, but also for the assimilated or quasi-assimilated Jewish individual in order to deny the traditional opportunist and usurious character, attributed to his personality, and present him to the world as a holder of true people identity who enjoy its own history, legacy and values, thus relieving him from the burden of deprived Jewish presence  manifested alongside him.

Hence, the Zionism movement was the nationalistic-political expression of the Jews and the Judaism itself, and therefore, the “First Commandment” of the Zionist movement’s 10 Commandments (which is the principal and most known basis of them all) precisely defined Judaism as a national identity and not just a mere religious identity, thus the Jews are a people who enjoy a unique privilege over all other peoples, particularly those whom the Jewish people live on their soil, hold their same citizenship cards, and claimed their decency. In this context, we won’t make an effort to respond to this allegation and endeavor during the past 200 years, making the Jewish nationalistic precept unparalleled, conceivably because of its fictitious and illusive structure.

The “First Commandment” of the Zionist movement didn’t only content with the Jewish distinction and distinguishing over all other peoples, as Herzl consolidated this claim with an added “Excellence” as well. Therefore, the Jews, the distinguished people, are also an excellent people. The Jews never differ from their countrymen where they live, but they are distinguished in comparison with these citizen and all other human beings.
The “Excellence” needs a legal opinion and a pure philosophy. As for the legal opinion, it was derived by the “Fathers of Zionism” (most of them were, like Herzl, seculars and not religious, some of them were even atheists, and most of them knew nothing about the religious affairs and never dealt with them) from the instructions of the Jewish religion itself, and particularly from Torah. Judaism is the only heavenly-known religion which attribute to its people the term “God’s chosen people”, thanks to its belief in a particular God which is exclusive to its only people, and not a merciful God for all human beings.

Hence, the Jews have long formulated a distinctive partnership between God and them as a people, between Jehovah and the people of Israel, since the ancient prophets time (Abraham, Moses,…). He is their own God, and they are his only people. This partnership is embodied in a unique world, completely separated from its surrounding of human beings, a religious and ethnic isolated world resembling to the ghettos which detach its people from its neighbors, flaunting with an exquisite standing, quasi-divine, approaching itself from God and excluding all other peoples, nationalities and adherents of different religions.
