Ramallah,
October 19,2000 Two days after Sharm al-Sheikh,
the Israeli occupation army eased its total siege
on the Palestinian cities, villages, and refugee
camps. The Palestinians on the other hand
organized huge demonstrations and marches all
over the occupied Palestinian Lands.
A huge demonstration was organized yesterday
in Ramallah to reemphasize the goals of the
present Intifada: to liberate the West Bank (Jerusalem
included) and the Gaza Strip from Israeli
occupation. This was in fact the slogan repeated
in the demonstration of thousands of Palestinians:
women and men, of all ages. They marched through
Ramallahand Al-Bireh proclaiming that no one can
hinder them from pursuing their struggle for
freedom, refusing the Israeli occupation and
| hegemony over their
every day life and destiny. The march
ended at the northern entrance of Al-Bireh
where it encountered Israeli occupation
army and clashes began. All in all five
Palestinians were killed on the day Sharm
al-Shaikh was signed, and one more the
day after. |

The leaders who met in Sharm al-Shaikh,
including the president of the United States, Mr.
Clinton, behaved like ordinary employees in any
administration. They did their best to save their
governments, or the candidate of their political
parties, as in the case of Clinton and Barak,
from the consequences of the degradation of the
situation in the Middle East. This proves that
all talk about international law and human rights
are just a joke. It seems to us Palestinians that
those leaders know only how to make war but not
how to make peace.
If somebody wants to make peace he first has
to impose a state of law and work by it to obtain
justice, then negotiations could be undertaken to
resolve practical issues. In the case of the
conflict in the Middle East, the international
community and the US in particular, does not seem
to care about international law but abides with
the Israeli avidity in the region. The US wants
to impose "peace" without justice
considering the Palestinians as an extinct
species. They want to impose "peace"
without liberty so that the Palestinians remain
the slaves of Israel, working for them for the
good of the Israeli economical growth and
prosperity. The US wants to impose "peace"
without human rights by imposing on Palestinians
to accept to live forever governed by the Israeli
military administration. The only thing that
seems to matter is the convivial relations
between Israel and the US, and the money and
votes of the Jews in the US elections.
How long could that continue ?
