Data
Communications - Digital Leased Lines (TDM) What is a Digital
Leased Line (DLL)?
DLL is a permanent connection made by
the Telecommunication Company between 2 locations.
In fact it is similar to a telephone line that is
open all the time but rather than paying for it
by the minute and second as you would do for your
normal telephone connections, a leased line is
rented by the month. Leased lines can be
installed over any distance and are priced
according to the speed (bandwidth) and the
location of the two ends.
Project
Description
The main objective of this network is to
provide Data Connectivity between all major
cities in Palestine. For this reason it was
necessary to build our own national data network.
The figure below gives a schematic description of
this network:

 |
Five main nodes were
installed in Nablus, Ramallah, Bethlehem,
Hebron and Gaza. |
 |
The Central Network
Management System of the TDM Network was
located in Nablus. Through this system,
the administrator can control and monitor
the whole network. |
 |
Fourteen smaller nodes with
different capacities were installed in
Qalquilya, Jenin, Tulkarem, Al-Ram, Beir
Nabala, Beir Zeit, Bireh, Jericho,
Jabalia, Rafah, Deer Al-Balah, AirPort,
Shekh Radwan and Khan-Younis. |
Leased
Lines Tariff
The installation and monthly charges of
the DLLs depend on the speed and the type of
connection between the locations of the two ends.
There
are four types of connections depending on the
location of the two ends:
| 1. |
Lines between two nodes
through Bezeq: for example between Nablus
and Gaza. |
| 2. |
Lines between two nodes
through PALTEL: for example between Khan-Younes
and Jabalia. |
| 3. |
Lines through the same node:
in this case, the two ends are located in
the same city and connected to the same
node. |
| 4. |
Non-Managed Local Lines:
these are copper pairs and are available
only locally. |
