Paltel contracts with LUXEMBOURG P&T for using 970

Total countries linking directly to Palestine via its 970 new independent international code amounted to 111 operators from around the world, switching international traffic routing to 970 in lieu of the Israeli code 972.

The continuous process of adding new international operators to the list of countries utilizing 970 per accessing Palestine, resulted in signing five new agreements during June/ July 2001 with:-

- Gibraltar (Gibraltar Telecommunications International Ltd)
- Dominica (Cable and Wireless Dominica)
- USA (Startec)
- Dominican Republic (CodeTel)
- Luxembourg (Luxembourg P&T).

Palestine reactivated its independent telephone code during 1998, through the International Telecommunications Union.
