Lines Increased From 83,621 to 193,865 in Less Than Three Years
PalTel was able to increase the number of operating telephone lines during the year
1997, from 83,621 to 110,893, thus the operating telephone lines throughout Palestine
are 193,865 as of August 31, 1999.
One of the most prominent expansion of service projects (Exchanges and Networks) is
Jerusalem Project which aims at covering the demand of the population in suburbs and
villages surrounding Jerusalem, due to the circumstances which this city faces in an effort
to preserve its Palestinian identity. A new Exchange with a capacity of 10,000 numbers
has been installed in Dier Qedes to serve all of the Deir Qedes area and Kharbatha Bani
Hareth.
