1998 Annual Report - Overview: The Essential Link In a world where telecommunication plays an increasingly important
role in the development of a stable, growing economy, as well as in the daily life of its
community, PalTel seeks to develop a world-class company offering a wide spectrum of
telecommunication services. These services include fixed and mobile telephony,
data transmission, Internet communications and other value-added services. These
services are to be made available to all people of Palestine and are
implemented through state-of-the art technologies built for rapid future expansion. Of
great importance are PalTel’s multi-lateral international technical alliances and
cooperative projects linking the Palestinian areas directly to the world via microwave,
submarine cables, and satellite communication. Toward this goal, PalTel has undertaken a
long-term strategy of capital investment in an extensive fiber-optic physical
plant, cellular services network, high-capacity national and international switches,
state-of-the-art customer service and billing facilities, and commitment to the Total
Quality Management (TQM) system. Additional service initiatives include telephony for
rural areas, microwave interconnection between the West Bank and Gaza, and digital lease
line circuits for business, financial, governmental and educational institution sectors.
While PalTel has pledged itself to the mission to provide
"Telecommunications for All" it is also equally committed to providing an
excellent return on investment for its shareholders. Happily, these two goals coincide: as
we install more lines and support them with exceptional customer service, we make
our customers and our investors happy.
