Jordan and Israel are Targeted as New Service Areas for Palestine Telecommunications
Companys New Cellular Services
Palestine Telecommunications Company (PalTel) has announced it is on the verge of
signing two new agreements, the first with Orange plc in Israel, and the second with
Jordanian Mobile Telecommunications Services Fastlink, to facilitate international
roaming connections for PalTel customers in Israel and Jordan.
Palestine Telecommunications had announced the introduction of their cell phone
service, Jawwal (The Wanderer) in the West Bank last September, after completing
network expansion to cover most of the Palestinian territories. The official commercial
launch for Jawwal in the Gaza Region occurred three months ago and was inaugurated
by Palestine President Mr. Yasser Arafat.
