- Taken from the new Journal of Palestinian Archaeology, we reprint an articleKhirbet Birzeit 1996, 1998-1999: Preliminary Results Khirbet Birzeit is a multi- period site with an occupation
extending from the Iron Age to the Ottoman period. The
evidence from the excavations indicates that, after the
early phase of the Ottoman period, the site was exploited
by the inhabitants of Birzeit mainly for agricultural
purposes.This article details results from 3 seasons of excavation. Added 26/4/2000.

Dr. Raja Bahlul is an associate professor of philosophy at Birzeit
University. He recently provided Our Voice with an article which examines
the notion and possibilities for Islamic
Feminism Added 17/11/98.
- Dean of Faculty of Arts, Mahmoud Mi'ari presents an article concerning
the self-identity of young Palestinians in the West Bank. The article
is based on research carried out by Mi'ari and students from his methodology
course. The paper argues that among Palestinians in the West Bank, Palestinian
national identity is strongest, followed, in order, by local identity,
Arab identity, religious identity and lastly clan identity. Added 15/11/98

- PALESTINAN WOMEN: A STATUS REPORT is a ten chapter report which
attempts to build a comprehensive picture of the current challenges
facing Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip in building a society
based on gender equality. We present the first chapter, entitled Contemporary
Palestinian Society, which was written by Associate Professor of
