"Cordial Relationships"

Wi'am conducts trainings through workshops on various issues related to conflict. Individuals (women, businessmen, teachers, students, government officials, security forces) from the community participate in the workshops.

  • Human Rights & Democracy:

At first, the different types of democracies that are in place around the world are studied. Secondly, time is spent dealing with democracy in Palestine. When addressing these issues, all elements of a society are open to discussion. Through the discussion, key points related to 'human rights' are highlighted at the core of a democracy.

  • Conflict Resolution:

When dealing with conflict resolution, a great emphasis is applied to communication. Different techniques are studied:
    • Self-communication (how does one communicate with oneself when relating to an issue),
    • Other-communication (how does one communicate with others when relating to an issue).
In resolving conflicts, negotiations take place to bring about a just solution. Three different negotiation techniques are studied:
    • Individual
    • Group
    • Community
Integrating the skills of sympathetic listening and communication into the negotiation process is discussed at length.

  • Women's Issues:

Workshops on women's issues cover a wide variety of topics as Wi'am reaches out to women in the city and in the villages.
    • Education about women's rights
    • Gender issues - the differences associated between genders
    • Teach women to resolve conflicts:
