to the Freedom Summer Palestine Campaign in other ways.
Please consider
helping defray the cost of the campaigners, while making a direct
contribution and investment in Palestine and to the Palestinian
people. Freedom Summer seeks to establish funding to cover the living
expenses of activists during their stay in Palestinian homes. Additionally,
the Freedom Summer project will invest in the tools to allow Palestinians
to document, report and continue the work after the international
activists return home, in order to maintain the movement and continue
raising awareness for their cause.
The costs
incurred by Freedom Summer are mainly an investment in the Palestinian
economy and in Palestinian communities. As activists will reside
with Palestinian families throughout their stay, monies raised will
go directly to these families for their expenses in housing and
feeding these guests. Additionally, local transportation expenses
will be covered by the funds raised for the project. As such, the
funds will be a direct stimulus to the faltering Palestinian economy
and will generate business in many hard-hit areas.
Activists
will be required to pay their own airfares to get to the region,
but will have the support of Freedom Summer in raising these funds
on their own in their communities in the United States and Europe.
Expenses incurred in preparing reports and documentation will also
be a direct benefit to the Palestinian economy, directly benefiting
the service industry.
Finally,
the technological equipment purchased for the project will remain
and investment in the Palestinian communities and a tool by which
the people can further their cause.
The cost
per activist is $1,400 for the two months, covering the additional
costs of staffing, lobbying, technological equipment, etc.
