Some Basic Facts about Palestinian Schools

There are over 2002 schools and kindergartens in the Palestine. They are broken down as follows:

  • 1070 are governmental schools
  • 253 are UNRWA schools
  • 147 are private schools
  • 532 are kindergartens

The village schools outnumber the city schools, and there are more owned schools than there are rented schools.

There are 10 Universities in Palestine in addition to four independent colleges that offer BA degrees.

The number of intermediate community colleges in Palestine is 19, and there are 15 vocational centers.

There is a total of 707,554 students enrolled of which 363, 861 are males and 343, 693 are females.


An average of 678,933 students are promoted each year and the number of students that are required to repeat their grade level is 2,862. Only an average of 17,925 students a year dropout.
