Birzeit University, Human Rights Action Project

The Human Rights Action Project follows the cases of Birzeit students, faculty and staff members detained by the Israeli military authorities, as well as "cases of restriction orders, house raids, deportation, and denial of freedom of movement and travel as it relates to university and academic activities". The website contains a separate page--Academic Freedom First--on the problems experienced by Gazan students attempting to study in the West Bank.

B'Tselem
B'Tselem, The Israeli Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories publishes numerous reports documenting a wide range of human rights abuses inflicted on the Palestinian population in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip by both Israeli and Palestinian security forces. It currently features the report The Quiet Deportation: Revocation of Residency of East Jerusalem Palestinians which explains how Israeli authorities in recent months have stepped up their campaign to expel long-time Palestinian residents from Arab Jerusalem. A related article, No to Building a Jewish Neighborhood on Har Homa Yes to Reducing Housing Shortage of Palestinians in East Jerusalem, relates the Jerusalem issue to that of the "Har Homa" settlement on Jabal Abu Ghneim.
Palestinian Human Rights Monitoring Group (PHRMG)
This new Palestinian human rights organization was established at the end of 1996. Its webpage features a bi-monthly monitor. The most recent issue, May-June, 1997 features a report on the harsh collective punishment meted out to the Palestinian village of Sourif by Israeli military and security forces.
 
Palestine Human Rights Information Centre
This page provides an outline and description of the center's activities, but so far has no published reports or links.
Egypt
Center for Human Rights Legal Aid
CHRLA (The Center for Human Rights Legal Aid), established in 1994 provides legal assistance and representation to victims of human rights violations in Egypt. The site features few press releases, reports on human rights problems in Egypt and other information. It also provides a detailed analysis of the Egyptian electoral system, entitled Egyptian Politics: The Fiction of a Multiparty System.
 
TheEgyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR)
The EOHR website provides some information on the organization's campaigns.It's reports, however, must be purchased.
