Many training courses were made to the Departments Heads, officials and workers, they attended lots of sessions, and many paper work was made, new plans and new procedures depending on ISO 9002 & the concept of TQM .

On Thursday May 18. 2000 The Final auditing on implementing the procedures and instructions of ISO was made in all Departments and Sections by a specialized Committee formed from SGS International for the ISO then the Committee recommended that Jericho Municipality should gain the Certificate of the ISO 9002.

On Saturday April 29. 2000 and Under the Patronage of his Excellency Dr. Saeb Ereqat the Minister of Local Government An agreement between the Municipality of Jericho and the United Nations Development Program has been signed stating that an amount of $8,82,000 is to be donated for the infrastructure in the Oldest City in the World, building new roads, streets maintenance. Mr. Abdel-Karim Sidr the Mayor of Jericho and Mr. Timothy Rothermel the Special Representative of the UNDP signed the Agreement.

Dr. Ereqat gave his sincere thanks and appreciation to the Japanese Government as the donor Government and to the UNDP for their continuous efforts to support those important projects in Palestine.

A Delegation from the UNISCO visited Jericho Municipality on March 29. 2000. the Delegation was constituted of Mrs. Costanza Farina, Head of UNISCO Coordination office in Ramallah, and Mr. Omar Masalhah the Director General of Palestinian People Assistance Unit in UNICEF, they visited the Municipality and met with the Mayor Mr. Abdel-Karim Sidr, after the meeting the Delegation visited some of the tourist and old sites and ruins in Jericho including to some newly implemented projects.

A Delegation from Milano in Italy constitutes Mr. Masimo de Crolies, Mayor of Milano. Mr. Franko kalamida Deputy President of the City Council. some other members of Milano City Council, the Delegation was accompanied by Mr. Hani Jaber the Palestinian Representative in Northern Italy, They were welcomed by Dr. Ali Huseini the Acting Mayor and a member of Jericho City Council, the Delegation got some explanations about the Municipality and the City of Jericho including the possibilities of making Twinning Agreements, then they had a tour in the City.

A number of 40 members of an Israeli Delegation visited the Municipality and were welcomed by Mr. Mohammed Abdel-Ruhman the Head of Public Relations Section in the Municipality and they got some ideas about the Municipality role in the City, the Delegation showed their prodigy and were so thankful for the great reception they received.

In a special ceremony in the Office of the Mayor in which Mr. Abdel-Karim Sidr Mayor of Jericho received a copy of the new book “ Jericho...a Trip of a day and 10,000 years” the book was rewarded to Jericho Municipality by Mrs. Jihan El-Hilou, Director General of Tamer Educational Association who published the book.
