Introduction
The Society has always paid special attention to
children who are the future hope and who will carry the torch and fulfill the vision of
their predecessors, if given the proper care and education.
The kindergarten was one of the first projects
established by the Society. In 1967, it assumed a special role when it took upon itself
the responsibility of opening its facilities to the children of the three villages of the
Latrun area destroyed by the Israeli army after the cease fire - Yalu, Beit Nuba and
Emuas. Besides offering those children education, it provided them with health care and
two hot meals a day.
At present it has children from all walks of
life. Its fees are a bare minimum and it continues to implement the policy of exempting
children who are victimized by occupation or other social circumstances.
In 1977, the Society opened its Day Care Center
in order to help working mothers by providing special care to their children at minimal
cost.
Teachers at the kindergarten are encouraged to
join training courses in universities and institutions of higher learning.
The kindergarten tries to strengthen the bonds
between the school and the families by inviting parents to discuss matters relating to
their children.
The kindergarten seeks to develop the aptitude
of children in all fields by visual aids and educational games and by introducing music,
art, drama, rhythmic and expressive movements and computer skills to their daily programs.
Children are also introduced to their environnent and country by field trips to places of
interest including farms and holy sites.
Children at the kindergarten celebrate Mother's
Day and Child's Day by holding performances of singing, dance and drama to which families
and Society members, staff and trainees are invited. These performances are bound to
enhance self confidence in children and are certain to educate them in acquiring a sense
of pride in perfection and cooperation.
