Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu Israeli Prime Minister Jerusalem Prime Minister Netanyahu, I am writing to you to bring to your attention the importance of resolving the issue of Gazan students' right to education. Since March 1996, over 1,000 Gaza students have been unable to continue their studies at universities in the West Bank because of the current closure and enforced permit system. The Gaza Students Campaign for Academic Freedom, an international campaign active in over 20 countries, was established to support the right to education and guarantee the access of all Palestinian students wishing to study in the West Bank to their universities or places of higher education. More information about the campaign is available on the campaign website at http://www.birzeit.edu/aff. I ask that you would state unequivocally your support for the Gaza students right to continue their education at the university most suited to their academic and personal circumstances. By adopting, publishing, and following standardized and transparent procedures which will enable all students to continue their studies uninterrupted, you affirm these students basic and essential right to education.
