Moving Information Technology Ahead On
Campus Many activities are taking place on campus to
enhance awareness and the efficient use of Information
Technology tools. Mr. Tarik Daoud, of the Computer Center,
established a new Intranet web site to make university documents and various
department service forms available electronically. Donations
from the Mary P. Dolciani Halloran Foundation enabled BU to
acquire higher speed connection to the Internet to better
serve more than 200 computers connected to the Internet..
Generous donations from the Lynch Foundation enabled the
Computer Center to enhance the IT services being provided to
students and faculty. A new Information Technology Newsletter
is issued each semester to update faculty and staff on the
latest IT news.
Early Childhood Festival: "New
Dawn" The Education Faculty and students held a
festival for children from May 17-20 in the BU Social Cultural
Center. Participants were K-5th grade children from schools in
the Bethlehem area accompanied by parents, educators and
community leaders. Activities consisted of sessions on the
rights of the child, a panel discussion for educators on
children's expression through drawing, plays for parents and
educators about the effect of the current situation on a
child's behavior, storytelling, and competitive sports. The
four-day activity was sponsored by Ireland Aid and Missionary
Childhood whose invaluable help made possible the successful
hosting of this event and the preparation of materials used
for the workshop.
