* Special Events:
The Ramallah Festival concentrated this year on hosting Arab singers
from Morocco, Egypt and Tunisia, such as Samira Saïd, Azza Balbah,
etc.. as well as a number of local, European and African folklore troops.
* Visual Arts:
Visual artist Tayseer Barakat held two shows this month, first, the
transfer of his new Exhibit at the Wasiti was exhibited to his Ramallah
Ziryab gallery, and an exhibit of his older works was held in Gaza
City, at the newly opened Gaza Arts & Crafts Village.
* Literature:
- A large book fair was held at El Birehs Baladna cultural and community center, focusing on new publications by the Bayareq publishing House.
- Short story writer Mahmoud Chqeir published a new autobiographical
novel titled Another Shadow to the City -Dhill Akhar lil-Madina-
recounting his childhood in Jerusalem, schooldays, political activism
and subsequent imprisonment and exile, and return. The book is published
by Dar el Quds.
