Hourani was born in Hebron in 1965, and graduated
with a BA in history from its university. He has participated in a number
of group exhibits in Jerusalem, Gaza, Ramallah and Hebron. He held his
first solo exhibit in Jerusalem in 1990, and participated in the 6th annual
Cairo biennial in 1997. He was selected by the Swiss arts foundation Pro-Helvetia
to spend six months in Geneva as a resident artist. His second solo exhibit
was held at the Sakakini in May 97, it showcased the works completed in
Switzerland, consisting mainly of collages of papyrus, paper with acrylic,
and an installation centered around a large chessboard, in addition to
free standing works made of wood and/or rubber. Hourani works at the Palestinian
ministry of culture, & runs the
Matall gallery in Ramallah.
He also participated in a Palestinian art group exhibit at Norway's Drammens Museum in August 1999.
