| Suha Shoman was born in Jordan in 1944, and studied law in Lebanon. She studied painting in Amman, Jordan, with artist Fahrelnissa Zeid. Since 1986 her bold and large sized works (canvas, paper, installations) have been inspired by the colors and textures of the ancient city of Petra, south of Jordan. She has participated in a number of solo and group exhibits in the Arab world, Asia, Europe, the US, as well as in the Palestinian Cultural Spring art exhibit of 1996 She founded and works at the artistic complex Darat el Funun in Amman (library, exhibit space, artistsÂ’ residences, performing arts venue, etc..). She is an honorary member of the Sakakini General assembly. |
