Samia Halaby

Halaby was born in Jerusalem in 1936, and was raised in Haifa. She left Haifa with her family hoping to return, but they emigrated instead to the United States. She now lives in New York and teaches at Yale. She has participated in a number of group exhibits in Jerusalem, Jordan, Austria, Cuba, Norway, Sweden, and the UK, and in the United Sates notably at the Guggenheim in 1975, and at the Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, in 1994. She's also held a number of personal exhibits in the United States. She participated in the 1998 Stockholm Fine Arts Academy “Palestinian Art” exhibit. She is a member of the Sakakini's General Assembly.
