It
has now been more than one year since PMWatch (along with many
other groups) started communicating on a regular basis with all
the major media outlets -- CNN, NPR, The New York Times, The Washington
Post, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Boston Globe, etc. -- providing
them with compelling evidence showing how their media coverage
on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is deeply rooted in the Israeli
narrative and grossly neglectful of the Palestinian narrative.
(See our reports for details)
The
media has responded here and there with some minor adjustments,
offering a little more access to their op-ed pages, showing a
bit more care in not adopting wholesale the language of the Israeli
Prime Minister's Office, but by and large, if one reads the editorials
emanating from all the major outlets, or examines the news stories
coming out on the conflict, it is quite clear that the standard
narrative is basically intact: the Palestinians started it all,
the are responsible for the lion's share of the violence, and
they are the ones who should be pressured to calm things down.
Below
is a list of the major grievances against the US media's coverage
of the conflict. Please add your comments if you wish and just
click on the 'Send' button, and the message below will be sent
to all the major media outlets, print as well as electronic. If
the media won't listen to our patient reasoning, maybe they will
listen when hundreds of people raise their voice in protest over
their shameless irresponsibility.
