SHARING JERUSALEM "PROPOSAL"

THE TIME TABLE

There is little doubt that the proposed project is delicate and complicated. A great deal of thought has been given to establishing a viable work plan that will take into account potential difficulties and ensure the smooth execution of the program within the next year, as the situation in Jerusalem is tense and any delay under these conditions will be counterproductive.

    Preliminary Preparation ( October - December 1996)

During the next three months five key tasks will be completed:

    1. Establishment and stuffing of the joint steering committee, the Palestinian and the Israeli organizing committee, the professional sub- committees and the international board.

    2. Preliminary planning of key events and contact with potential participants.

    3. fundraising of the full budget for 1997.

    4. Conclusion of contracts with the producer and coordinators.

    5. Organization of two small events in November and December on the main theme of the project.

      Planning Phase ( January - may 1997 )

The first five months of the year will be devoted to detailed planning of the June events. On the planning level, the final program will be concluded in consultation with local and international experts, at a joint meeting of the steering committee and the international coordinating committee. On the organizational level, working groups composed and professionals voluntary associations and volunteers will be formed. These groups will be responsible for specific programming and for all the technical details related to the events. On the logistical level. arrangements for performance and exhibition sites will be made, as well as travel and accommodation provisions for visitors and performers. on the public relation level, initial publicity brochures will be prepared, and the selling of subscriptions started. And finally ,additional public meetings will be held to establish the required build-up for the June program.

      Implementation Phase ( June - July 1997 )

The months of June and July involve intense preparation of the events, supervision to ensure their successful implementation and immediate evaluation and financial assessment . These two months will be accompanied by professinal public relation activities, including daily press releases and a summary press conference.

      Follow- up Phase ( August - December 1997 )

The follow- up phase consists of three main components, details of which will be decided upon in concluding meeting of the international coordinating committee and the joint steering committee. First, the publication of a summary catalogue and educational guide. Second, the formation and registration of Sharing Jerusalem fund. Third, the preparation of specific project proposal for ongoing cooperative activities.

A great deal of initial thought has already been invested in the conceptualization and preparation of this project. Despite the short timetable, it is possible, relying on the experience and qualifications of the organizers, to carry out the program in its entirety within the proposed time frame.
