Computer Science:

The traditional study of computer science is a rather theoretical study of the computer as an entity;
The emphasis is on a basic understanding of the computer rather than its role as a tool in other applications area;
This study of the computer as an entity provides the fundamental background needed to understand the ever-changing computing environment;
The major in computer science would lead the student into graduate work in computer science or to an employment opportunity in the computer industry or scientific applications.
On the other hand, the general term of computer information systems refers to the use of the computer in an application area.
Business systems represent a major portion of the application areas and form a major emphasis in the department.
The degree offered provide more than just training in data processing; it gives the basis for future self-development as computers and computer usage evolves.
