Ein Karem, which means "the spring of vineyard", is a picturesque village located about 8 km (4.8 miles) southwest of Jerusalem. It was an Arab village until 1948, when its people were forced out by the Israelis. Now its Arab people live mostly in Jordan, the Gulf, and the US.
This site is set up as a tour of Ein Karem and to emphasize its Arabic character.
