Others, whom we have felt would be obvious candidates for advisers, include Noam Chomsky, Jimmy Carter, Steven Spielberg, and Elie Wiesel. Interestingly, while the first three were encouraging but unable to serve due to other commitments, Elie Wiesel ignored repeated requests to join Deir Yassin Remembered or acknowledge us in anyway. He has supported the human rights of every other oppressed people, but he has not yet been able to bring himself to include Palestinians. We hope that one day he will follow the advice of Martin Buber, a man for whom he professes to have the greatest admiration, and a man who once wrote to Ben Gurion saying,

"The time will come when it will be possible to conceive of some act in Deir Yassin, an act which will symbolize our people's desire for justice and brotherhood with the Arab people."

The members of Deir Yassin Remembered believe that time is overdue.
