Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu Israeli Prime Minister Jerusalem Prime Minister Netanyahu, I am writing to you to thank you for the recent release of Palestinian writer Ahmed Qatamesh, a former administrative detainee in the Israeli prison of Damoun who served the longest continuous period of administrative detention in the history of Israel - four and a half years. More information about his case is available on the 'Free Ahmad Qatamesh' website at http://www.freeqatamesh.org/. I ask that you would look at the issue of all Palestinian administrative detainees, of which around 250 remain in Israeli detention. Administrative detention, detention without charge or trial, is a measure that is not appropriate for any country that seeks to be democratic and follow the rule of law. In the current peace process, a dramatic move to end this proceedure of detention which causes so much hurt to the detainees and their families, would do much to build confidence. Sincerely,
