Part 1 of 4: The campaign week...
Specially errected noticeboards give each student bloc the chance to express themselves with slogans, cartoons, and commentary and to explain their policies to the student body. Photo by Yasser Darweesh
Election week, and the campus is festively draped with flags, streamers, banner and posters. Student blocs are allocated time slots for presentations, and switch their larger banners to different walls on different days. Some sites are better than others and therefore are aloocated by a lottery system.

Blocs made election props to grab students' attention. The Islamic bloc made a model of the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem, that required 4 people to carry it. Photo by Yasser Darweesh
Similarly, the Al-Quds Bloc blimp, made reference to the Dome of the Rock. At the end of the elections, the blimp came loose and was discovered a few days later inside Israel by some perplexed soldiers. Photo by Yasser Darweesh
