Department of Community & Public Health
The Training and Teaching Programme of DCPH:
The Department faculty and staff also participate in a considerable
amount of training in various fields related to health care, such
as: working on study designs with various institutions in relation
to planned projects, training persons working in health institutions
in the methodologies of field investigations, assisting local
health institutions in initiating preventive and promotive health
schemes, and working with them to develop record keeping systems.
Other training activities include, but are not exhausted by: training
health personnel and young researchers in computer use and statistical
data analysis, training community health and disability rehabilitation
workers, and supervising the field research of other institutions.
This last supervisory role includes the overseeing of work by
Masters students from abroad who are working on theses in the
West Bank and Gaza Strip.
The Department is scheduled to begin teaching at the post-graduate
level in the second semester of the academic year 1995-1996. Based
on a field investigation into the training needs primary health
care professionals, a special post-graduate Diploma in Primary Health Care Training/Supervision
has been developed. The diploma program aims to assist in the
creation of the mid-level trainer supervisor post and is a necessary
step towards the further development of the local health care
system.
