Alumni relations constitute a key component of Bethlehem University's cooperation links with society. Each year, activities are carried out in order to encourage alumni to visit the University, spend some time there, and to re-live their years and memories as students. Within the same context, University news are sent weekly by e-mail to alumni, this in addition to the Alumni Publication issued twice per year, and the constant campaign to update the address list.

Because of the political situation, Alumni Day was postponed, yet an Alumni Cultural Event was held on Friday, June 1, 2001. Activities were designed for alumni and their children. Mr. Omar Mousa, Athletics Department, carried out sport competitions geared for families. This proved to be a truly exciting event. Feedback was highly positive.

After a short break, alumni participated in a competition of general knowledge questions organized by Jubrail Al-Shomali, President of the Alumni Association. Alumni were divided into two groups. The winning group was awarded B.U. sweat-shirts. Alumni within the audience were awarded B.U. medals and pens if they answered questions the two competing groups were unable to answer.

That session was opened by Brother Joe Loewenstein, former President of B.U. He thanked the alumni for attending, and encouraged them to stay in touch and to visit constantly. Brother Joe emphasized the two-way track relationship between Bethlehem University and its alumni.

During the same time, Ms. Rabab Tamish and her students from the Education Faculty were carrying out games and entertainment for the children of alumni. This took place in Al-Waha, and the children had a good time drawing and playing. Children were particularly delighted with the story-telling segment carried out by Education Faculty students.

Mr. Jubrail Al-Shomali, President of the Alumni Association, expressed his hope that success of the Alumni Cultural Event will translate into greater cooperation and ties between B.U. and its graduates.
