Scholarship Donations

Description of the Program

The University has a Financial Aid Officer who is available each day to listen to students requests for financial aid. Close to 700 students have requested aid so far this year. The local economy has been devastated because of occupation, closures, and severe travel restrictions. The rate of unemployment is extremely high in the area. Because of travel restrictions, an increasing number of students are unable to leave the Gaza area and the University now serves more and more students from the refugee camps in the area; 3 camps are in Bethlehem. A Financial Aid Committee evaluates the many requests made on the University's meager resources but the number of needy students is increasing each year.

Methods Used to Evaluate the Program's Effectiveness

Periodic reports to our donors on the names and academic progress of the students who have received scholarships and tuition aid. Students are also required to maintain an academic average of 2.5
