General Information
Bethlehem University is a 4-year undergraduate
university. At present time, no graduate programs are offered, and no
degree programs are available for non-Arabic speaking students. The
university offers a number of courses every semester that are taught in
English language. These courses are open to International students
either for credit, or on an audit basis. Local students sign up for
these courses as part of their regular programs. There is usually a
mixture of local and international students in these courses.
Additionally, Arabic courses are offered to non-Arabic speakers. The
list of courses offered is made public according to the following
schedule:
- Fall Semester (September - December) by April
30
- Spring Semester (February - May) by November 30
- Summer Sessions (mid June - mid August) by
February 28
Bethlehem University follows the American credit
system. Normally, these courses are assigned three credits each. The
grading systems follows the letter grades (A represents 4.0; B+ 3.5; B
3.0; C+ 2.5; C 2.0; D+ 1.5; D 1.0; and F 0.0). Quizzes, hour exams,
research projects, term papers, assignments, and classroom participation
make up the final grade. Most faculty are Palestinian, while a number of
expatriate staff are available as well. An official transcript is issued
at the end of each semester, with a copy sent to the student's home
university. Bethlehem University is a member of the Association of Arab
Universities, and the Arab Association of Collegiate Registrars and
Admission Officers.
LOCATION
The historic town of Bethlehem and Bethlehem
University are located 8 miles of south of Jerusalem in the area
"A" of the Palestinian National Authority. The campus is
within walking distance of all market places and historical sites in
Bethlehem, and is easily accessible by buses or shared taxis. The
eastern town of Beit Sahour is continuous to Bethlehem as is the western
town of Beit Jala.
HOUSING AND MEALS
The University operates a female student dormitory
within walking distance from the campus. Home-stays with local
Palestinian families can be arranged upon student's request. A large
student cafeteria is available on campus, and a number of fast food
restaurants and coffee shops surround the campus.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR INTERNATIONAL

- 2.5 GPA or better on a scale of 4.0 (students
must submit a current university transcript)
- Must have completed 60 credit hours
- Full time university status without academic or
disciplinary probation
- Completed Bethlehem University "Special
