of Travel Agency Management and the IATA Standard Course Diploma
Bethlehem University is the only IATA/UFTAA
(International Air Transport Association and the Universal
Federation of Travel Agents Association) Authorized Training Center in
the Palestinian Territories for certification for their Standard Course.
This program is designed to provide basic training
for those who wish to pursue a career in tourism and/or the travel
business. The courses focus on management in the tourism industry in the
context of rapid growth and change. The course aims to help meet the
industry's needs for well qualified managers who have a broad
understanding of tourism management. It takes an integrative approach to
tourism management which recognizes the diversity of management roles
and careers within the industry.
This program gives the students a broad
understanding of travel agency and airlines operations, familiarity with
industry regulations, codes, geography, tour programs, visa and health
requirements, customer services and sales techniques. In addition, upon
successful completion of the program, students will be able to give
correct travel advice and information to clients, calculate appropriate
air fares, make reservations and complete international travel documents
in accordance with the applicable IATA rules and procedures.
Students pay an additional fee to IATA for this
segment of the program. This fee covers the training material, mailings,
and the examination.
Course content is under constant review to ensure
that it reflects the needs of students and industry, and modifications
will be made from time to time as these needs change.
