Throughout history, Jerusalem has been the source of prolonged conflict and yet has also been the source of veneration for a vast body of believers, historians, intellectuals and others. It is this Holy City, the Golden City, source of virtuousness and symbol of purity that has elevated her among other cities. As a matter-of-fact, The name Yabous originates from the Jebusites, the first tribe building a civilization in Jerusalem 5000 years ago. This Cannanite tribe originated from the Arab Peninsula and spread into various parts of the earth, some to arrive here, hence the name The Land of Canaan. They were skilled constructors, and all their towns were built out of stones and surrounded by large and steady strongholds. The Jebusites were the first to introduce the cultivation of grapes and olives in the area. Just as our ancestors have inhabited its mountains and its valleys, we too today, continue to emphasize and affirm our Arab and Palestinian identity in this Golden City Jerusalem. |
