PWLS has now it's own Database section . An International Award for a Documentary Film about (Birds of Palestine) produced by Palestine Wildlife Society
The documentary film (Birds of Palestine) the English version received an international award given by Environmental Ministry in Slovakia during the annual festival which is held by the Ministry for films dealing with the agriculture, Environment, and nature conservation in the world. This festival lasts for ten days in Slovakia last month where hundreds of international films were transmitted. The Palestinian deputy in Slovakia Mr. Suhail Ghannam received the award and it will be submitted to the Society later on in a Ceremony that is going to be held in Ramallah.
This is the first film among ten films produced by Environmental Media Department that receive an international award since the establishment of PWLS in 1999 and till now. The film was photographed by Imad Atrash and Muhanad Bannoura, and it was directed by Iyad Qumsieh the Director of Palestine Production.
The film is about the migrant birds to and from Europe (it is estimated by 500 million birds) through Palestinian natural sites, Wadi El Makrour in Beit Jala, Bani Na'em in Jerusalem Wilderness and St. Saba Monastery area in Bethlehem, Jordan Valley, Mediterranean Sea shore (Wadi Gaza). In addition to the migrant and resident birds in Jericho Monitoring Station where PWLS make surveys for birds and study their species. This area considered to be a path for birds during their migration in the principal season autumn and spring. |
