The following is an action call to mobilize a
protest campaign to complain about CNN's
decision to "tone down" their coverage
(See item below).
I suggest that in your response, you stress in clear
terms the following:
- That you are disappointed that CNN is compromising
its journalistic integrity by caving in to
political pressure
- That you demand that Rula Amin be reinstated and
that she be allowed to file her reports.
- That unless Rula Amin is allowed to do her job,
you have no choice but to get rid of your CNN
shares within the next few days
- That Gilo be called what it officially is: a
settlement
Best thing is to call AND send email.
Tel no.: (404) 827 - 0234
Email: public.information@turner.com
Please bcc: pmwatch@zworg.com
I just spoke with the lady there (I got her in one
ring!), and basically she is there to take in
complaints! So, do your job and let her do her job!
If you call, please indicate in you email that you did
when you write the email. Phone calls are taken a bit
more seriously than emails. BUT please do send the
email, and bcc us so that we have a record of your
action. This will help me when I call in for their
reaction next week. I will fax in your letters before
talking to CNN and asking them for their reaction.

(11:05) Barak meets CNN representatives over coverage
Prime Minister Ehud Barak met recently with three
representatives of the CNN network in an effort to
clarify claims of slanted and one-sided reportage of
violence in the territories by the US network.
Members of the Prime Minister's Office and the Foreign
Ministry were present at the meeting, the Hebrew daily
"Ma'ariv" reports.
The CNN representatives expressed concern at the
meeting about reports of American Jews selling off
stock in the parent company, Time-Warner, in protest
over the network's coverage of the current crisis.
Jewish leaders in the US said they were having some
success in convincing CNN to change its reportage on
the conflict.
In an effort to mollify critics, CNN recently stopped
airing reports from correspondent Rula Amin in Gaza
and ceased referring to the Jerusalem neighborhood of
Gilo as a "settlement."
