| After several years
of conducting workshops and seminars on issues related to democracy, civil
society, accountability, transparency, rule of law, citizenship and respect
for human rights, Panorama received numerous requests for more specialized
and detailed courses on these topics that are open to the general public.
Bearing these requests in mind, and thanks to the generous support of the
Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Panorama has begun to develop the Democracy
Development Center (DDC).
The goal of the DDC is to organize and offer more comprehensive
academic courses on issues related to democracy. Early this year,
a pedagogical committee consisting of academics, NGO activists and trainers
was established for this project. This committee prepared the curriculum
for 12 sets of courses on issues related to the aforementioned topics.
Following this, all the necessary logistical arrangements were made.
Beginning this June, two sets of courses, one about Democracy and Human
Rights, and the other about Negotiations, Mediation and Conflict Resolution
began.
The next sets of courses begin December 1st 1998.
For anyone interested in further information in terms of the topics of
these courses, specific times and dates, registration, etc., please do
not hesitate to contact the Panorama office in Jerusalem
