Market Access Program
The Market Access Program (MAP) is a project
funded by the United States Agency for
International Development (USAID) and implemented
by Development Alternatives Inc (DAI).
The objective of
MAP is to increase the competitiveness of the
Palestinian private sector in order to expand
economic growth and increase market share, sales,
exports, and employment opportunities.
To accomplish this
objective, MAP will provide technical assistance
to strengthen the capacity of business
organizations to furnish a range of business
development and policy advocacy services to their
members.
MAP’s mission is to build new
Palestinian models of business leadership and
organizations that:
·
Advocate
business-enabling policies and mechanisms through
public and private sector cooperation;
·
Develop competitive
products and services to increase market access
for Palestinian business; and,
·
Create a market
place through associations for business services
to improve business performance

(Programme of Assistence to
the Palestinian People)
In
December 1978 the General Assembly of the United
Nations called upon the United Nations Development
Programme (UNDP) to undertake development
activities on behalf of the Palestinian people. As
a result, the UNDP Programme of Assistance to the
Palestinian People (UNDP/PAPP) became operational.
From modest early beginnings, UNDP/PAPP is now a
leading development organization and has gained
considerable experience through its two decades of
efforts to assist the Palestinian people through
periods of occupation, civil unrest, and the
establishment of the Palestinian Authority. It
currently has over $145 million in ongoing
projects active in every part of the West Bank and
Gaza Strip and a staff of 130, principally
Palestinian employees.
