On April 9, 1948 members of the Irgun and Stern Group jointly stormed and captured the village of Deir Yasin , and massacred much of the population (about 240 men, women, and children). This massacre was highly publicized which accelerated the flight of Arab from Palestine which become refugees in the adjusting Arab countries .
