Palestinian nationalist organization, founded 1958 to have an independent Palestinian action to recover Palestinian territory , on 1968 the goal of a 'Palestinian State' was developed as a final goal for the organization. It was the first organized Palestinian resistance group, based 1968-70 in Jordan, then in Lebanon, and from 1982 in Tunisia. Also called the Palestine National Liberation Movement, it is the main component of the Palestine Liberation Organization. Its leader is Yasser Arafat.
