statement concerning the Palestine Authority's
campaign of arrests of Bir Zeit University students
In
the name of God, the Merciful, the Mercy-giving
Commenting
on the campaign of arrests of Bir Zeit University students that is being
carried out by the Palestine Authority's security agencies; an official
source in the Islamic Resistance Movement – Hamas – declared the
following:
The
Hamas Movement has followed with extreme indignation the campaign of
arrests undertaken by the security agencies of the Palestine Authority of
Bir Zeit University students in response to their protest demonstrations
against statements by the French Prime Minister.
In his remarks, the French Prime Minister described the heroic and
legitimate resistance actions of the Islamic Resistance in south Lebanon
as “terrorist acts.”
The
rage and protest of our students in Bir Zeit University yesterday and the
protest demonstrations by students at al-Najah University today against
the French Prime Minister are nothing but a spontaneous and natural
expression of the conscience of our Palestinian people and of the Arab and
Islamic world that rejects such provocative statements.
The
French Prime Minister’s description of the legitimate acts of resistance
against the Zionist occupation and its military establishment as
“terrorist acts” contradicts all international principles,
conventions, documents, and laws. It
is also blatant alignment with the Zionist position and support for its
aggression and arrogance. It
is something that demands the firm disapproval and condemnation by all
sincere forces in our Arab nation.
We
find it strange that the Palestine Authority would undertake a campaign of
arrests against the students, making common apologies for their protests
and spontaneous actions in defense of the honor of our nation, its rights,
and its legitimate resistance activity, at a time when the statements of
the French Prime Minister have elicited tremendous condemnation and
rejection inside France itself on many levels.
The
defiant students of Palestinian Universities who were and still are the
first to defend their people and their national causes, of whom thousands
have fallen martyrs or been imprisoned in confrontation with Zionist
aggression,
deserve to be highly praised and honored, not repressed, arrested, and
hunted down!!
We
demand that the Palestine Authority immediately release all the students
it has arrested and apologize to our people and our students for their
practices of repressing their rights.
Long
live the defiant student movement as a true expression of the conscience
of our people and our nation!
