Zionists are our enemies, Jihad is our way to freedom

Statement issued by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas)
on the occasion of the 13th anniversary of the blessed Intifada
and the launching of the Hamas Movement

Our Palestinian People,

The people of heroism and sacrifice,

These days coincide with the anniversary of the blessed Intifada (uprising) and the establishment of Hamas while we are standing at a dangerous crossroad: whether to resume the glorious days of resistance for freedom and dignity or to establish the life of humiliation and submission to the ugly occupation under the justification of a final resolution that is dictated by the Occupation State.

Our steadfast People on the Holy Land, martyrs and heroes! be an insurmountable barrier in the face of the conspiracies and challenges and reject all projects of submission and humiliation. You, the people who made the greatest revolution in our contemporary history, the people who drew with their red blood the borders of your homeland, the people who wrote the cleanest record of heroism and sacrifice with the blood of your martyrs, and the people who firmly faced the most impudent enemy known to mankind, have patience and steadfastness.

Our hero People,

How it is great that we observe in these days the anniversary of the blessed Intifada sparked by our Palestinian people making the greatest revolution in the contemporary history of our people. And how it is great that we observe the anniversary of the launching of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) that carried the injuries of the homeland and advanced towards the time-honoured victory, resisting the enemy with one hand and alleviating the suffering of our people with the other in order to enhance the hopes and create facts to realize God’s victory.

Blessed are our People on the anniversary of the Intifada and the launching of Hamas. Salutations to the blessed martyrs, to the hundreds of thousands injured whom their injuries did not deter them from their goal, to the thousands of freedom prisoners in the oppressive jails of the Zionist Occupation, and to our brothers and leaders of our Jihad who have been absented in the jails of the self rule authority, especially our brothers Dr. Abdel Aziz Rantisi, Dr. Ibrahim Maqadma, Jamal Mansour and Mohammad Jamal Natsheh.

Greetings also to the martyrs Yahya Ayyash, Imad Aqel, Kamal Kehail, Muhiel Deen Sharif and the brothers Adel and Imad Awadallah. And greetings to the martyrdom bombers in our country who plant death and horror in the hearts of the Zionists and seed victory and dignity among the Palestinian People and who prove that we are a non-dying people who do not surrender and who are able to extract victory and defeat the enemy: “God has decreed: It is I and My apostles who must prevail.”

Our Palestinian People, our Arab and Islamic nations

These two great occasions pass while the self rule authority is still insisting on going ahead with the final status negotiations, which endanger our future in our land, our rights and the history and Jihad of the Palestinian People in favour of the Zionist Enemy. They also come in difficult circumstances while the Zionist Enemy continues to exhibit arrogance against our People and our Nation, supported by the United States.

Therefore, we, in the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), would like to stress the following principles:

First: The aims to which the blessed popular Intifada were launched were to remove the Occupation, liberate the land, clean the holy places, and to build our independent State on the whole soil of our Palestinian homeland. These aims still exist; they did not change or come to an end. Therefore, we are requested to continue our Jihad and resistance until we achieve our goals.

Second: We and our Palestinian People reject the idea that the price to be paid for the Oslo accords and the consequent unfair agreements be the sacrifices of our People and our Nation. Therefore, we emphasize our rejection of all humiliating and fragile agreements which ignore the rights of our people to liberate their land, to return to their homeland, to build their own State and to liberate their holy places. We also emphasize that the Intifada and the sacrifices of our People and their national and Islamic forces should not be by any means used to establish the occupier’s foothold or to legalize its domination over our land and holy places.

Third: We, in the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), on this blessed occasion, warn of the consequences of running after the fata morgana of the so-called peace agreements, calling on the self rule authority to promptly stop the final status negotiations and not to mislead the Palestinian People by alleging that it is able to restore some of their rights, which it cannot achieve without relinquishing the historic, religious and national rights in Palestine.

Fourth: We call upon the Palestinian Authority to seize the anniversary of the blessed Intifada to release all of the Palestinian detainees from its jails, to end the corruption within it and not to protect the corruptionists, to stop the confiscation of public freedoms, and to release our People and allow them to protect their rights, unity and Jihad against the Occupation authorities which dominate all of our lands and holy places.

Fifth: We emphasize that the two parts of Jerusalem, the eastern and the western, are a unified Palestinian, Arab and Islamic city and that no one has the right to abandon any part of it. We also do not accept any attempt to abandon our right in Jerusalem and the holy places. Our People will never accept Abu Dis or any other place as an alternative to Jerusalem.

Sixth: We emphasize that our People’s right of return to their homeland is a sacred right that cannot be abolished by any agreement or bypassed over time.

Seventh: We call upon all our People in the Occupied land and in Diaspora to protect their unity and enhance their steadfastness and to work jointly to resist the Occupation and not to give a chance to those who want to relinquish our land, holy places and rights.

Eighth: We call upon all Arabs and Muslims to support our People and their steadfastness and Jihad. Again we stress Hamas’ policy of its keenness to foster relations with all Arab and Muslim countries and peoples. We also stress Hamas’ keenness to protect their security and stability, especially those Arab States that surround Palestine.

Ninth: We stress our keenness to have a special relationship with our dear Jordan and its dear people, who are our people, calling on the Jordanian government to reconsider the arbitrary measures it recently took against Hamas and some of its leaders.

Our Arab and Muslim Nation,

While we in the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) stress—on the anniversary of our movement—on grasping our right to resistance and Jihad until the liberation of the whole national soil, while rejecting all humiliating and fragile agreements that abandoned the rights of our People and which were signed without their will or agreement, we vow before our Palestinian People and our Arab and Islamic Nation that we shall continue the resistance and the Jihad, and we shall not forget our brothers who are imprisoned in the Zionist Enemy’s jails and will do our best to free them. Hamas, as you know her, will continue its resistance for liberation and freedom. It will remain a force to serve its people and nation; it does not deviate from its direction; it will remain honest, protecting its nation and the nation’s resources; it will remain keen on protecting the security and stability of the Arab and Muslim world because it is aware of the fact that Palestine, as it is a cause for Palestinians, is also a cause for Arabs and Muslims everywhere.

It is a Jihad, a victory or a martyrdom.
