 Press Release

On the arrest of the Movement’s leaders:
Khaled Mishaal, Ibrahim Ghoushe and deportation of
Dr. Mousa Abu Marzouk

We, in the Islamic Resistance Movement – Hamas, declare our regret and denunciation of the Jordanian government’s measures which led to escalation of the crisis at a time when benevolent efforts were being exerted to contain it and prevent its negative repercussions.

We consider the return of the brothers to their country and families as an evidence of their innocence of what has been held against them and of legitimacy of their presence (there).

We affirm that such measures affect the relationship between the Jordanian and Palestinian peoples and do not serve the interests of the Jordanian people, the majority of whom support the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas and reject the measures against its leaders.

We also affirm that deportation of Dr. Mousa Abu Marzouk contradicts with the residence right granted to him by the late King Hussein.

We renew the call on the Jordanian government to re-consider its measures, and we appeal to King Abdullah II to interfere in continuation of his late father’s policy in boosting national unity within Jordan and unity of the two Jordanian and Palestinian peoples.

We confirm persistence of the Movement’s stable policy of non-interference in internal affairs of the Arab and Muslim countries and its keenness on maintaining their security and stability.

We affirm that the pressures against the Movement only increase its insistence on pursuance of its Jihad march to restore our Palestinian people’s right in their homeland and sanctities. The march will continue to prevent giving up any of them in addition to the return of the evicted Palestinian people to their country, lands and full sovereignty.

We appeal to the Kings, Presidents, Ameers and peoples of the Arab and Muslim Ummah, especially the intellectuals, political parties, organizations, syndicates and societies to intervene and seek the release of the detained leaders. We hope that they would also seek the return of Dr. Abu Marzouk, who was deported, so as things would return to normalcy in brotherly Jordan.

“And Allah hath full power and control over His affairs; but most among mankind know it not.” (Quran 12/21)
