"Israeli" aggressions: 2 raids and artillery
bombardment
(1)
""Israeli" occupation's warplanes at 9:25 Thursday
raided Wadi al-Hijari (between the towns of Maifadoun and Zawtar al-Sharqieh).
"The enemy warplanes fired two air-to-ground missiles that exploded 100 meters away from the houses of Zawtar, inflicting on them various types of damage.
The houses belong to Mohammed Deeb Qassem, Amin Khalil Qassem and Mohammed Ameen Qassem.
"The enemy planes at 15:10 targeted the area between Sojod and Oqmata in Iqleem al-Toffah, firing two air-to-ground missiles which ignited fires that Civil Defence men were not able to put out.
Earlier, the "Israeli" artillery bombarded the Yohmor Plain, the Litani River gorge and the Hamra Farmstead with a number of 155mm rounds.
"At dawn, the occupation pounded the Zahrani River gorge, Mount al-Rafih (Iqleem al-Toffah), the outskirts of Yater and Jibal al-Botom with different types of rounds. The shelling went on sporadically until sunset.
"At 19:00 yesterday (Wednesday) "Israeli" warplanes raided the Froun area firing a number of missiles that set fires in neighboring groves.
"Lebanese security sources disclosed that the occupation has been deliberately using incendiary phosphorus bombs when shelling hilltops and wadis in the south and the western Beqaa.
"Such bombardment yesterday set fires that devoured thousands of square meters of planted fields and bushes. Civil Defense teams, in cooperation with residents, tried to extinguish the fires, but they were targeted by shots fired from the outposts of the occupation forces and their collaborators".
In its statement, the "Israeli" occupation forces
staged the following "Israeli" aggressions on the Lebanese liberated areas

LEBANON ACCUSES "ISRAEL" OF INTRANSIGENCE
(2)
"Lebanese parliament's foreign relations committee
in Beirut today (yesterday) discussed "Israel's" latest attacks against
Lebanon. Prime Minister Selim Hoss who headed the meeting in his capacity
as foreign minister, updated deputies on his recent discussions in New
York where he attended UN General Assembly meetings. He warned that "Israel"
does not seek peace as manifested in its daily attacks on Lebanese towns
and villages. Parliamentary sources said following the meeting in downtown
Beirut, that despite efforts underway to kick-start peace negotiations
with "Israel", both sides remain far apart. Hoss reportedly stressed, neither
secret nor public peace negotiations are taking place with "Israel". He
also said Lebanon will not enter any peace talks if there are plans to
resettle Palestinian refugees here, that is out of the question", the premier
added.
Lull in artillery fire over as "Israel"
pounds south
(1)
"With the Jewish holiday season ending over the
weekend, "Israeli" artillery guns began to step up bombardments of the
south after a month-long lull while warplanes continued launching air strikes
in reprisal for individual resistance assaults.
"Warplanes fired missiles Sunday evening into an area near Jibaa opposite the northern sector shortly after Hizbullah fighters targeted the Bir Kallab outpost.
"Jets had earlier attacked an area just north of Yater facing the western sector of the occupation zone from where Amal guerrillas had launched a mortar attack on the Blat outpost.
The area between Yater and Kafra came under heavy bombardment at the same time. The area was also "heavily shelled Saturday following an assault on the Blat post.
"The high number of air raids throughout the south in recent days 27 sorties in the past week alone has come as pre-emptive and retaliatory artillery bombardments by the "Israelis" and the SLA* have significantly declined.
"The SLA militia notoriously lax in taking precautions not to hit civilian areas with its mortar shells has been ordered by the "Israelis" to leave any retaliation to the artillery guns ranged along the border.
"Although artillery shelling tends to be less accurate than pin-point air strikes, the "Israelis" with their 155mm guns are considerably more prudent than their militia allies.
Security sources said the "Israelis" are concerned that haphazard mortar shelling by the SLA could inflict civilian casualties which, in turn, could force Hizbullah to respond with a Katyusha attack on the settlements of northern Galilee.
"While the "Israelis" do not relish rocket attacks on Galilee at any time, the past few weeks have been particularly sensitive due to the Jewish holiday season. The holidays began with Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish new year, on Sept. 11, followed by Yom Kippur and Succot. The season ended over the weekend with Simhat Tohra.
"Security sources said the "Israeli" Army was anxious to prevent a potential barrage of criticism from northern Galilee residents if they had been forced to spend the holidays in their bomb shelters because of the threat of Katyusha attacks in retaliation for Lebanese civilian casualties caused by careless artillery fire.
"Security sources believe that pre-emptive shelling and retaliatory shelling will gradually return to normal levels in the coming days".
Three Lebanese join the list of hostages
in "Israeli" prisons
(1)
"The number of Lebanese detained by the "Israeli"
occupation forces and their collaborators has risen as the proxy militia
arrested three citizens in the occupied zone.
"The detainees Hussein Ahmed Semhat, 39, his wife Najwa Hussein Semhat, 36, and their son Ahmed, 15, are from Ainata. The militia took the father and the son to the notorious al-Khiam detention center; the fate of the wife is still unknown.
"Their detention came as the occupation and its collaborators stormed the town of Bint Jbeil following the killing of agent Fawzi al-Sagheer last week.".
Civilians wounded, houses damaged in "Israeli"
violation of Understanding
(1)
"Two "Israeli" helicopter gunships made a low-level dash across the
central sector of the occupation zone on Tuesday morning to fire a guided
missile into an abandoned home on the edge of Qabrikha Village".
"The suddenness of Tuesdays attack stunned villagers who, had been enjoying the rare pleasure of a peaceful morning. As they chatted or went about their daily chores, they were being scrutinized by a pilotless reconnaissance plane. The "Israeli" drone had been buzzing above the village all morning, its slender crucifix shape invisible against the deep blue sky. "Little stirred in the central sector, just a cloud of dust marking the passage of a tank between the "Israeli"-manned outpost at Taibeh and the new SLA position at Mheisbat. But at around 11.30am, the village was alerted to impending trouble by the throbbing beat of approaching helicopters. Moments later an explosion rocked the village.
"Two Apache gunships emerged from a backdrop of dun-colored hills. Shedding anti-missile flares in their wake, the helicopters wheeled and turned a few hundred meters east of the village. The crack of two outgoing mortar rounds fired by the resistance came from somewhere north of the village. One of the rounds exploded just short of the Mheisbat post and beneath the helicopters. The Apaches headed back toward "Israel".
Two cars, horns blaring, raced down the road. In the back seat of the rear car, a man had his face buried in his hands.
The helicopters fired a rocket into a house, said one man.
A crowd had gathered in the center of the village. Several children clutching schoolbooks milled around uncertainly. The rocket attack had brought an abrupt halt to classes in the village school. Grim-faced Hizbullah members cordoned off the targeted house while their comrades sifted through the rubble.
"The missile had struck the side of the building, knocking a gaping hole in an upper floor before punching through a wall into a neighbors garden. Fragments of the missile lay scattered in the garden, some of the components still too hot to touch. The building, whose owner lives in Beirut, was empty at the time of the attack, the villagers insisted.
We were all sitting together when we heard the helicopters then a loud explosion, said Khatiba Mansour, 17, who lives next to the targeted building. We didnt know what had happened we were very scared.
Sitting on the floor in Khatibas house, a woman was sobbing. Her brother had been wounded in the blast. He was the man seen clutching his face in the back of the car as his friends took him to Tibnine Hospital. "The drone was still circling as "Israeli" artillery began pounding Wadi Qaissieh between Qabrikha and Khorbet Selem. The shells exploded in the wadi".

Occupation's suppressive measures intensified
(3)
"Israeli" occupation forces have intensified their suppressive measures
against the residents of the zone "Israel" occupies in south Lebanon and
its western Beqaa.
Reports from the occupied zone said the town of Ainata has been repeatedly stormed by the occupation forces and their collaborators.
"Yesterday Hussein Semhat, his wife, and their son were taken to the
notorious al-Khiam detention center.
"The occupation today (yesterday) barred all the residents born in
Ainata from leaving the occupied zone, the reports said, adding that similar
measures have been imposed on the Bint Jbeil residents who are being harassed
at the proxy militia's checkpoints while moving within the occupied zone.
"Moreover, the occupation forces prevented the Lebanese Internal Security Forces (ISF) personnel who live in the occupied zone from entering or leaving it.
"The occupation's militiamen said the measure, which also includes civil servants' families, is the result of a decision by the "Israeli" occupation army.
"On the other hand, the occupation's engineering forces razed the sides of the roads that link Hasbaya to Ain Qinya and Shwayya. The arbitrary measure caused heavy damage in the neighboring groves and their walls".
Two civilians wounded as occupation's aircraft
and artillery violate April Understanding

The air escalation indicates the enemy's
quagmire, Hizbullah
(3)
"Hizbullah sources stressed that the "Israeli"
escalation of air aggressions is the most powerful evidence to the enemy's
quagmire.
"These assaults attempt to conceal the political losses from the Zionist public opinion which is pressuring the "Israeli" government to withdraw from Lebanon, the sources said.
"The raids are also used as a show of force especially amidst the talk about partial withdrawals with the defeatist implications of such pullouts, the sources added.
"These moves will not help intercept the blows dealt to the occupation forces. Nor will they help curb the operations launched against the enemy."
The "Israeli" occupation army admitted that it was intentionally making greater use of its air power to reduce exposing ground forces to unnecessary dangers in the zone.
"During the recent period, in the wake of new instructions, soldiers are remaining more in outposts and carrying out routine activity. For a long while now we haven't been sent to initiate activity," said an "Israeli" officer quoted in the "Israeli" Yediot Ahranot newspaper.
The officer said that it was clear to everyone that the intention to take the "Israeli" army out of Lebanon by July 2000 is the reason that activity on the ground has been reduced in order to prevent any unnecessary escalation
"Over 100 "Israeli" raids were staged during September, the highest figure in one month since the 1996 "Israeli" aggression on Lebanon".
"Israeli" aggressions against Lebanon during
September 1999
(4)
There were 242 air and ground "Israeli" aggressions
against Lebanon during the month of September 1999. The air aggressions
constituted 25.62% of the gross aggressions, in comparison with 35.7% in
August 1999.
The violence of the air raids intensified during this month as the enemy aircraft staged 44 sorties on areas in the south and the western Beqaa. These raids targeted:
- Wadi Zillaya with 2 sorties (Sep. 1),
- outskirts of Jibaa and Kfar Douneen (Sep. 2),
-The Daidaba Hilltop in Mount al-Daher, the Chaitieh-Jibal al Botom-Zibqeen Triangle and the outskirts of Zibqeen (two sorties, Sep. 14),

The martyr is Michael Abu Tannous, and the wounded are: Mohammed Taleb, Mohammed al-Samad, Khalid Sheikha, Mohammed Deeb, and Kanj Naef (Sep 22),
-Two raids on the outskirts of Jibaa (Sep. 23),
- Nabeh al-Tasseh gorge in the western part of Loweizeh, the Dlaitoun Farmstead (outskirts of Jibaa), an area between Ain Bousoir and Jarjoua, Mount al-Rafieh, Ain al-Smahieh (north of Zawtar al-Sharqieh), an area between Mount Sojod and Oqmata Farmstead (two sorties), the outskirts of Jibaa and Houmeen al-Fawqa (two sorties, Sep. 37),

were martyred and Mohammed Aql al-Jabali, 75, Alaa Aql, 15, and her mother
Mona Haidar al-Outa were injured.
Regarding the "Israeli" practices in the occupied zone, September witnessed several tours and meeting.
- On Sep. 2, an "Israeli" military delegation headed by the liaison unit commander toured the site near Zimraya crossing where two charges were detonated. Then, he held a meeting in the "Israeli" and Lahdi command HQ in Tallet Zoghleh. The meeting focused on the military situation in this sector, as it became clear that the resistance is now able to carry out its operations very easily and accurately besides being in control of the field situation. The "Israeli" security sources fear that the security situation in Hasbaya becomes similar to that in the Jezzine area before the "Israeli" withdrawal.
- On Sep. 7, the liaison unit command and that
of the proxy militia met to discuss the measures to be adopted at the Zimraya
crossing in particular and other crossings in general, as it turned out
that the personnel used to protect these gates that separate the occupied
zone from the liberated areas have become sitting ducks for the Resistance
men.
The meeting centered on ways to overcome the
fear felt by the Lahdi militiamen manning the gates, as they said they
refuse to man the crossings under the current military circumstances.
- On Sep. 8, an "Israeli" delegation from the
northern area command toured the Tallet Zoghleh axis and the surrounding
military outposts. The delegation inspected, from Ain Qinya Hilltop, the
road between Tallet Zoghleh and the town of Memis and met the "Israeli"
and Lahdi military command working at this axis besides holding a meeting
at Tallet Zoghleh to evaluate the military situation and study the pros
and cons of closing the Zimraya gate (crossing) and the possibility of
opening a new gate.
Moreover, a ceremony was held in Marjeyoun. It
was attended by the "Israeli" liaison unit commander Beni Genzi, Antoine
Lahd and senior officers form both sides. The occasion was to mark the
replacement of the liaison unit's eastern division commander Col. Aviv
by Col. Ayal Azemberg.
- On Sep. 21, the "Israeli" liaison unit command and that of the Lahdi militia held a meeting to discuss the military situation and the preparations that the occupation has launched for a partial withdrawal from Hasbaya and the rest of the Jezzine area.
- On Sep. 28, "Israeli" officers were positioned at the Tallet Zoghleh Hilltop outpost at night. They supervised the raids that were launched by the occupation's warplanes on the Daidaba Hilltop (Mount al-Dahr).
As for storming and detention campaigns, the occupation forces and their collaborators on Sep. 3 detained two residents from the Alma al-Shaab town. Hussein Ali Harisi, 48, and Mohammed Mahmoud Harisi, 21, were taken to the al-Khiam detention center.
On Sep. 6, the occupation forces stormed into houses in the town of Rmeish. Journalist Cosette Elias Ibrahim, 25, Samir George Khiami, 22, and De Gaul Butros Abu Taleb, 40, were detained and taken to al-Khiam center.
The arrest of the press woman, Ibrahim, was widely condemned by social groups and the Lebanese Press and Editors Unions. Protest was also staged inside occupied Palestine.
On Sep. 9, the occupation stormed into a number of houses in the town of Blat. Bahjat Asaad, 30, was detained, and so were two brothers and their sister in the town of Rob Thlathine. They are Mohammed Faqih, Ali Faqih and Mariam Faqih.
On Sep. 10, Nader Mohammed Khodor, 30, who hails from Hasbaya, was detained and taken to al-Khiam, the reason behind the arrest was not known.
On Sep. 15, the occupation troops positioned in the Beaufort Castle outpost ransacked the houses around the mosque in the town of Arnoun. They also set up a permanent observation center on the roof of a 3-story building to be able to observe the Beaufort-Khardali road which is used by "Israeli" military vehicles and convoys every day.
At sea, the occupation's gunboats on Sep. 17 hijacked a fishing boat near the Qlaileh shore. The three fishermen who were in the boat, Hussein Taha, Ahmed Taha and Taleb Sabrawi were beaten and insulted by the enemy troops who warned them that if they sail once again, the "Israelis" will fire at them.
On Sep. 17, collaborator Taleb Siblini arrested a number of young men in the towns of Tair Harfa and al-Jibbein. The detainees were taken to the "security center" in Naqoura.
Reports also said that collaborators tore many permits (to enter and leave the occupied zone) belonging to residents whose sons had refused to join the Lahd militia.
The occupation and its collaborators on Sep. 20 stormed the town of Aita al-Shaab, detaining Fahd Saleh (40, highschool teacher), Ali Hassan Qassem (he refused to let his son join the militia) and Fadila Mohammed Tehini, 30, who is the wife of Hussein Ali Harisi that was detained earlier this month (she was released later).
On Sep. 22, Ali Jawad, 65, was detained from his house in Rob Thlathine and taken to al-Khiam.
The next day, another detention campaign was staged by the occupation forces in Aita al-Shaeb. Among those detained were Mohammed Naef Srour and Ali Ahmed Khalil.
Moreover, the occupation expelled from the town of Rshaf Samir Mohammed Attar, 36, his wife, Khadija Abdel-Latif Attar, 34, and their seven children Susan, 13, Houria, 12, Iman, 10, Mohammed, 9, Hussein, 7, Fatima, 5 and Hassan, 2.
The enemy also dynamited the 2-story house of Mohammed Shaaban in Bait Yahoun. The reason behind the act was not known.
On the other hand, the occupation on Sep. 2 closed the Zimraya crossing for ten days, following the Islamic Resistance's operation near the crossing. The same gate was shut down on Sep. 27.
On Sep. 20, the occupation forces closed all the crossings on the occasion of Jewish Yom Kipur.
The occupation on Sep. 1, started installing sophisticated radar and electronic equipment for tapping an transmission inside the "Israeli" outpost in the Shraifeh Hilltop.
A security report said the enemy is preparing the outpost to be the intersection point at any withdrawal from the occupied strip. Forces will be gathered at this outpost which will be the last pullout point.
The Lahd militiamen were barred from nearing the outpost under any circumstances.
Moreover, the "Israeli" occupation forces reinforced
the outposts of Ain Qinya, Zoghleh, and Kawkaba (the Hasbaya side).
A 20-strong force backed by armored vehicles
advanced to the Ain Qinya Hilltop outpost that overlooks the liberated
Hasbaya villages. The step followed pulling back the Lahd militiamen to
the near Tallet Zoghleh outpost.
On Sep. 6, the occupation created a new road between its position in the Taibeh Project Hilltop and the Mhaisbut outpost. The 4-kilometer road would make the enemy's vehicle movements between the two outposts unseen by the resistance, especially from the opposite points in the liberated areas.
Moreover, sources talked about a new observation point in Baidar al-Faqaani (outskirts of Taibeh) overlooking the Litani River gorge.
The sources added that two "Israeli" tanks are positioned in the new point every night in a bid to spot resistance movements in the liberated areas.
For the first time since the beginning of the
"Israeli" arbitrary blockade on the Lebanese shores of Sidon and Tyre,
the "Israeli" navy on Sep. 17 intercepted a civilian ship that was leaving
the Tyre port after it has unloaded its cargo there.
The "Israeli" occupation's marines told the captain
that they have decided not to give him permit to leave. They did not say
the reason.
Furthermore, the enemy navy on Sep. 14 held a civilian ship with a cargo of used cars. The vessel was thoroughly searched before being allowed to enter the Tyre port.
Ainata besieged, Hizbullah affirms: the
arm of Resistance is long
(1)
The remains of the proxy militia maintained the blockade the collaborators
have been imposing on the town.
A statement by the town's residents disclosed that agents Ali Khalil
Hmayyed and Jamil Khanafer handled the acts of suppression and detention
that raised to 10 the number of the Ainata residents detained by the occupation
and taken to the al-Khiam detention center within 4 days.
Among those detained are: Ali Khalil Khanafer (24), Sayyed Ibrahim Fadlallah (60), Bilal Mahmoud Jaafar (17), Ghinwa Mahmoud Jafaar (21), Hussein Mohammed Samhat (65), his wife Najwa Hussein Samhat (36), and their son Ahmed (15).
The residents called on the Lebanese government and the international human rights groups to intervene and unveil the fate of hundreds of detainees in Israeli prisons besides putting an end to the arbitrary practices of the occupation and its collaborators.
Hizbullah, in turn, talked about the enemy's practices.
"The Zionist occupation army and its collaborators are proceeding with their arbitrary measures against the residents of the occupied zone, the latest of these measures being the siege of Ainata and detaining a number of its steadfast residents, including elderly people, women and boys, besides storming houses, blocking movement inside and outside the town, and intimidating and threatening residents. These acts will have dire consequences on the besieged residents," a Hizbullah communiqué read.
"This Zionist terrorism against unarmed civilians comes as the Zionist entity is practicing daily aggressions of bombardment and air raids on the villages adjacent to the occupied zone, believing that this might protect it from the blows dealt by the Islamic Resistance men or rescue it from the quagmire of occupation.
"The enemy has, in a humiliated manner, acknowledged that it keeps it troops away from ground confrontations with IR men for fear of sustaining human losses, and that it is using instead its air force and suppressive measures against our people in the occupied zone.
"As we hail the Ainata people's steadfastness, clinging to their land, and rejecting the occupation and its collaborators, we stress that the Islamic Resistance that will always be the watchful eye safeguarding its people and land, will proceed with Jihad until the occupation is expelled and the land is liberated.
"IR will pursue the traitor collaborators who must learn the lesson from their predecessors, for the arm of the Resistance is long, and it knows how to reach them one by one in their houses outposts, cars, or wherever they may hide," the Hizbullah communiqué concluded.
Raids won't achieve goals, Resistance is
proceeding, Hizbullah
(2)
"Hizbullah Deputy Secretary General his Eminence
Sheikh Nahim Qassem said the "Israeli" enemy's idea to intensify aircraft
aggressions was old, but the enemy wants to portray it as if there were
a new method.
"The enemy wants to achieve 3 goals:
1-To try to cut the roads used by the resistance
men and to target their potential outposts in a bid to inflict casualties
in their ranks.
2-To give a dose of morale to the "Israeli" army and the "Israeli" interior and make them feel that the occupation army is in control, as the talk of "Israeli" media is about the heaviness of fire. This may insinuate strength, control and holding the initiative on the grounds that a lot of noise may produce a certain impact. It also may ease the demands calling for measures as they (the occupation forces) are doing something new.
3- To cover up partial withdrawals and make them look as part and parcel of the military plan which has been escalated as the aircraft is bombarding areas on the one hand, while there are withdrawal tactics from some outposts on the other. This would make an integral picture: field measures without the other party winning while covering up the helplessness which has taken its toll on the "Israeli" army's morale plus silencing internal political demands for withdrawal.
Speaking in a press interview, Sheikh Qassem added, "We believe that the enemy inevitably thinks of different methods to stage its aggressions, but for us, as a resistance that inflicts field losses in the ranks of the enemy and defends its people, nothing has changed. Resistance intensifies or decreases according to field circumstances. In all cases, we deal with the outcome and confront it accordingly. We do not care that much about analysis and statements."
"The Islamic Resistance is proceeding with its plans to achieve its goals. Yesterday's achievement in Rihan reaffirm the strong resolve to prevent the enemy from achieving its goals and to inflict maximum casualties in the ranks of the occupiers", his Eminence concluded.

Psychiatrist Hassan Toufeili, who examined Jaafar, said she arrived in a serious condition and had suffered a nervous breakdown.
He said that she had endured a similar experience a year ago, when she was also abducted and beaten by SLA men.
Prime Minister Salim Hoss office called the hospital on Sunday afternoon and informed them that the Health Ministry would pay her medical expenses.

Israel: Sky above Lebanon is dangerous
for Israeli aircrafts
(1)
Israeli Air Force Commander Eitan Ben-Eliahu
said yesterday that the skies above Lebanon are becoming more dangerous
for Israeli aircraft, but that the IAFwas improving its methods of evading
enemy fire. Speaking at a press conference held at an air base in the center
of the country, General Eitan Ben-Eliahu said that in Lebanon today, there
are "more anti-aircraft weapons, more sights [for targeting aircraft],
more attempts to hit planes. Against this we are attempting to avoid routine:
changing [our] means, methods, [and] flying techniques. The Hizbullah,
and others, are trying to disrupt and destroy, and we are improving our
methods and means of defense, and are doing everything necessary in order
to avoid being hit."
The Air Force chief's comments come two weeks after a Hizbullah announcement that it had acquired a "secret weapon" that would surprise Israel. The organization has apparently been trying to acquire modern anti-aircraft weapons.
Responding to a question on the Hizbullah's intentions of shooting down Israel Air Force planes or helicopters over Lebanon, Ben-Eliahu said, "We should all be glad that, until now, it [the IAF's air defense against anti-aircraft fire] has worked successfully. But these things aren't an insurance company. They are liable to change from day to day."
Ben-Eliahu said that the marked rise in the number of Israel Air Force attacks in Lebanon in recent months is the result of a number of causes, including the nature of Hizbullah activity.

Child killed, 4 wounded in explosion of
Israeli bomb

Child Warda Mohammed al-Moussa, 4 years, was
killed and four other children: her sister Basma, 10, Aiman Mahmoud al-Izzo,
4, his sister Hoda, 7, and Ahmed Omar al-Qario, 9, were wounded by a cluster
bomb that had been thrown by the Israeli occupation forces during the
1982 invasion. The bomb went off as the children were playing.
According to the official security report, the children, of Syrian nationality, were playing yesterday morning near a factory at the Zahle-Bareleis road when one of them tripped over the bomb.
When the bomb went off, the children were close to one another. They were taken to hospitals in the area while security forces came to the area to conduct investigations.
Commander of the Shtura Gendarme Division Major Fadi Salman and military expert Sergeant Hosni Krayyem said the bomb had remained in the spot since the Israeli invasion in 1982.
They said the surveillance of the area where the
explosion took place revealed that there were such enemy bombs in the area.
The whole area will be searched to make sure
no such deadly bombs are left there, Salman told reporters.
A Lebanese engineer, Naji al-Hrawi, was killed 15 years ago in a similar explosion.
A number of Lebanese are killed or wounded every year by bombs left over from earlier Israeli aggressions, especially bombs like the one that exploded yesterday (between 5 and 10 cms) that can go off years after being thrown from a warplane or being fired by artillery.
Occupation expels family from zone

The family, which came from the village of Dibbin near Marjeyoun, walked to a Lebanese Army checkpoint and then went to Tyre to stay with their relatives.
According to police, the Wansa family refused to collaborate with the Israeli occupation and would not allow their son to join its proxy militia. As a result, they were declared "unwanted people" inside the border enclave.
The family said the militia's so-called security official in the town Abbas Abu Abbas (alias al-Konti) came to the family house in Dibbin. When the wife refused to open the door as her husband was at work, the collaborator broke into the house, brutally beat the wife and told her that the family must leave the occupied zone, otherwise they will be taken to the al-Khiam detention center.

left by occupation
(1)
Only days after two little girls were killed and other children were
wounded in a similar incident, Kamel Moheiddeen Abdel-Al, 55, was killed
today (yesterday) when a cluster bomb left over from earlier Israeli
aggressions on western Beqaa went off.
Abdel -Al was working in one of his groves near the Qaroun Lake when
the bomb exploded and took his life.
Resident of al-Qaroun town urged the Lebanese government and international
groups to conduct comprehensive survey of the area lest their should be
any mines or bombs left over from Israeli aggressions on the area.
Security forces sealed off the area and barred residents and journalists from nearing the groves for fear that other bombs may still be there.
