"Israeli" farmers reap benefits of our soil

"The prospects of Israel returning the soil it stole from Lebanon last October was always remote. But that likelihood has faded to near impossibility now that "Israeli" farmers have planted saplings in the stolen earth".

"The picture above shows part of the terraces constructed from the distinctive dark red soil of the fertile al-Marj Valley, just north of the border. In the foreground is the border and in the background lies the "Israeli" settlement of Kefar Giladi".

"Hundreds of tonnes of soil were stolen by "Israeli" businessmen last October and trucked 4 kilometers south of the border for the benefit of the farmers of northern Galilee. The terraces are clearly visible from the border road running between Kfar Kila and Adaisseh".

"The "Israeli" government initially denied soil was being stolen after The Daily Star first broke the story in October. The theft, however, provoked a diplomatic uproar, forcing Israel to admit soil was being taken illegally and to stop the plunder".

"The excavation site, 1 kilometer north of the border, was abandoned in November and is now filled with rainwater".
