Mothers Voice Frustrations
at Second Sit-In

Frustration with the government, the media and support groups erupted into bitter reproach yesterday at a demonstration to publicize the plight of detainee to “Israeli” prisons.

At the second weekly ‘Mothers’ Thursday the wife of detainees Nazih Mustafa, 33 , complain about the government’s lack of concern while another woman expressed doubt the media would cover the event in detail.

Using Israel’s campaign to find missing airman Ron Arad as a yardstick, Sahar Zeaiter accused the government of not making enough effort to secure the release of detainees.
“Since our officials do not have detained sons or relatives, they simply don’t care about dedicating some of their time and effort to save our men who suffer daily from “Israeli” cruelty and “Israeli” treatment”, she said.

Zeaiter said “Israel” succeeded in gaining international attention and sympathy when one of its soldiers was captured . “When Ron Arad went missing or when some soldier’s remains were held with their enemy, the whole world felt sorry for “Israel”, our eternal aggressor. But our husbands and brothers are held in “Israel’s” horror camps and not one Lebanese official bothers to demand their release”, she said.

Calling upon officials to take action, Zeaiter vowed that the Mothers’ Thursday would “knock on each and every official’s door, and if they do not respond to our demands we will force them to”.

Expressing the frustration of trying to gain support, a woman attempting to calm Zeaiter told her that “the media would probably not cover the event anyway”.

Safa called upon those attending to arrive in large numbers at next week’s sit-in, because Che` Guevara’s son, Camilo, had been officially invited and is expected to attend.
