Bail for old or sick Israeli agents

Elderly or sick collaborators could be released from prison on bail pending their court hearings, Chief Military Prosecutor Nasri Lahoud said Friday.
Lahoud said that the military tribunal has decided to study the medical and criminal files of each collaborator currently under arrest.
“If it turns out that his medical condition is very critical and his crime is minor, we will release him on bail,” Lahoud said, “provided he appears in court when we summon him.”
He said a “minor crime” would be someone who had entered enemy territory
in this case, Israel.
“If, for example, they arrest a 68 year-old who needs angioplasty, it is better to release him than keep him in jail while he suffers,” Lahoud explained.
But he also made it clear that the court would not release those accused of major crimes, regardless of their medical condition.
The military prosecution usually keeps a medical file of each defendant under arrest, and would only grant bail after consulting a doctor.
Former
the collaborators who were previously sentenced could be released if their medical conditions are considered critical provided their sentences do not exceed six months.
