Lebanese man files lawsuit against Israel for killing his daughter |
A Lebanese man has filed a lawsuit against Israel after his daughter was killed when the Israeli army opened fire on civilians during its May pullout from southern Lebanon. Services were held for thirty-one year old Raymonda Rizk in her hometown Marjayoun in the south late yesterday. Her body was repatriated from Israel by the International Committee of the Red Cross. Raymonda's entire family had retreated with Israeli troops when they ended their 22-year occupation of south Lebanon. Her father, Raymond, was a former driver with Israels now defunct proxy militia. He filed the lawsuit against the Israeli army in the Jewish state. The entire family accompanied Raymonda's body back to Lebanon. She was treated in a Haifa hospital where she died. Raymonda's husband, who also fought alongside Israeli troops in south Lebanon, has been seeking political asylum in Switzerland. Hundreds of militiamen and their families have been returning to Lebanon, complaining of discrimination and poor living conditions in the Jewish state. Some six thousand fled to Israel with occupation troops. Beirut has urged the militiamen to return and face fair trials. Lebanese who collaborated with Israel and fought alongside occupation troops have been receiving sentences ranging from a few weeks in prison to the death sentence in absentia, which could be appealed.
