Military Court sentenced 16 former militiamen

A military court sentenced 16 former militiamen on Thursday to prison terms for collaborating with “Israel” during its 22-year occupation of the South.
The defendants, all of whom were in custody, received sentences ranging from three weeks to five years. Two others, Ibrahim Sayyed and Butros Hakim, were sentenced in absentia to 15 years. Some of the defendants who were members of the “Israeli”-proxy militia were also fined LL400,000.
After “Israel’s” withdrawal, some 2,200 militiamen members surrendered to Lebanese authorities or were captured, while many others fled to “Israel” with their families. The military court has sentenced more than 1,000 people to jail with terms of up to 15 years since the trials began on June 5.
