40
former collaborators imprisoned
A military court late
Monday sentenced 40 people to prison terms ranging from three weeks to three
years for contact or collaboration with Israel.
Two men received three years imprisonment for belonging to the former
Israeli-proxy militia; 11 defendants received jail terms of three weeks
plus fines of LL1 million for entering Israel.
The defendants were the 58th batch of collaborators to stand trial since
Israels May withdrawal. The vast majority of the 2,500-militiamen
surrendered to the Lebanese authorities after the Israeli pullback.
